Prior to today, I had never been to a carnival, but pictures from Rio always used to make me wonder when I would get a chance to take pictures at a carnival. When I heard Copenhagen had its own annual carnival, I jumped at the opportunity to photograph this wonderful festival of colour, dance and music. The Copenhagen Carnival is an annual carnival event taking place in Fælledparken and on the streets of Copenhagen, for three days (Friday-Sunday) during the Whitsun Holiday. Over the years it has developed into the largest Danish festival for World music with 120 bands, 2000 dancers and more than 100,000 spectators participating. (Source:

The main Copenhagen Carnival Parade takes place on Saturday, moving from Kongens Nytorv to The City Hall Square along the pedestrian street Strøget. The day after, the parade is repeated in Fælledparken, leading up to the final evening of celebrations. This saturday I planned to be in Stroget to witness the parade as it moved through…

A Day In The Park In Auguste – Two Clown Watercolor

The Art of Patty Sue O'Hair - Vicknair

2013-03-03 20.50.10

Hello Fellow Clown Lovers,

Clowns – I love them!  I love to paint bright, colorful, happy images and clowns fit right in with that.

I have painted clowns for several years.  Until recently I focused on painting them in Acrylics on canvas, but I have renewed my love of Watercolor and I am currently working on a series of paintings that incorporates great clowns (most of whom I have made friends with on Facebook) and watercolor.  Since the watercolor series  is new and not well know I have the luxury of selling these paintings at a  pretty reasonable price.

I came across this cute image while looking thru some great photos that Beth Grimes and John Sayre AKA  “JP Ballyhoo”  had taken one afternoon while clowning around… I fell in love with the image.  This has 2 clowns and would not fit in my 9 X 12 painting size so…

Clownvis the King of Clowns: Is it Tribute?

Rock & Brews

It is easy to make a quick judgment about Leahy’s alter ego.  Is it tribute?  Is it just an act?  Is it disrespectful?  I had my reservations about Clownvis the King of Clowns when I met him at the Is Elvis in El Segundo? contest at the Rock & Brews restaurant.  I asked him if he was an Elvis fan and he said, yes, then stated his upper left arm adorns a large Elvis tattoo I didn’t ask to see.  He would have had to strip down his jumpsuit.  So, I dug a little deeper and…
