Silent comedy aficionados are very much like baseball fans….all about the standings. They’re forever sizing up the players and ranking them. Thus….Walter Kerr, author of the best silent comedy book (to date) The Silent Clowns, counts as the fifth genius of the form (behind Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd and Langdon) a man you’ve not heard of (or maybe have heard of but whose films you’ve not seen)  by the name of Raymond Griffith. If those be the case, today and three more Saturdays throughout the summer the Silent Clowns film series are prepared to redress that neglected part of your life. Today they’ll be screening The Night Club (1925) at 2:30pm at the Bruno Walter Auditorium of the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts, 111 Amsterdam Ave. For more details go here.
