GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police said an 18-year-old is dead after being shot in a carnival’s parking lot Friday night in Greensboro.

Michael Felka was shot around 10:45 p.m. at the corner of Ellington and Hanner Streets outside of the Greensboro Youth Council Carnival at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, police said.

Witnesses said the shooting was part of a gang fight. Police have not confirmed that, but did say that more than a dozen people were involved.

“I saw a group of 100 or so running around the tents,” said a carnival worker who was finishing up his shift at the time of the shooting. The man asked to remain anonymous.

Felka was taken to Moses Cone Hospital and pronounced dead a few hours later.

Police are still looking for the shooter. Felka was less than a mile from his home at the time of the shooting.
